Gene ontology represents a knowledge body within a given range [1]. It usually contains three major categories: biological process, molecular function, and cellular component. Researchers use biotechnologies based on the gene ontology to find phenotype of the target disease. The gene ontology terms listed below are generated in Interpro, an professional data analysis tool for researchers to find related ontology.

For biological process, mitochondria fusion is the major focus, also the gap in knowledge of this study. The mutation within the gene mutates the shape of mitochondria, makes misshapen and unable to fuse, further causing optic atrophy type 1. For molecular function, GTP binding happens within mitochondria, as the function of mitochondria got affected, it could further affect GTP binding. For cellular component, mitochondrial membrane is responsible for the shape of the cell. Study of mitochondrial membrane can help in identifying the reason why mitochondria got misshapen.
